Instagram lets users pin favorite comments to the top
A new Instagram update now lets users pin their favorite or important comments to the top of posts.
Instagram released a couple of updates in July 2020 to enhance user experience. The features were under tests and analysis since May but now are officially rolled out. Few of these updates revolve around the comments section on Instagram. With the new tweaks users can pin comments to the top of posts for people to see. A spokesperson from instagram notified, “This feature gives people a way to set the tone for their account and engage with their community by pinning a select number of comments to the top of their comments thread”.
This feature is a part of Instagram’s anti-bullying policy. Users can pin positive, heart-warming comments to the top and bury the unwanted negative comments. According to a report users can pin 3 comments on a post.
Potential client grabber
What if businesses and companies pin their best testimonials to the top? Companies can pin positive comments and testimonials to the top thereby enhancing brand image. Subsequently, anyone who goes through the comments would be forced to contact the firm for their services. This could be a fruitful marketing tool and help companies grab clients.
Your comments, your control
In addition to this, the new update allows you to control who can tag you or comment on certain posts.
“We’ve seen that tags and mentions can be used to target or bully others, so we’re rolling out new controls that allow you to manage who can tag or mention you on Instagram. You can choose whether you want everyone, only people you follow or no one to be able to tag or mention you in a comment, caption or story,” said an Instagram official. By restricting control to others, you keep yourself away from unwanted distress.
Moreover, you can also completely block some annoying or nosy followers. To block or restrict accounts from commenting, press and hold a comment and simply tap block. There, no more inappropriate comments from irrelevant people. This way you can manage the type of comments on your stories and posts yourself. Your comments section will feel exactly like the way you want it.
