#AashiyanoPe was a trending topic on Twitter in Pakistan on October 26th, 2013. ‘Aashiyano Pe’ is first song by Z’en (@iamzenbeatz), who is a rapper/musician, and Syed Anosh Ali. We have interviewed Zain Ul Abdin aka Z’en for Twittistaan. Read story behind his debut song in his our words.

Twittistaan: Z’en how did you get the idea of this song? What was the motivation behind it? and did you face any problems during the all this time?

Z’en: Aashiyano Pe is the song I wrote almost a year back, when Pakistan was going through a lot. Well, isn’t it always is? Loadshedding at its peak, sweating all over, I found myself free styling. I thought why not write it all down. This led to taking out all the frustration out on the pen which turned out to be my first official single’s verses. After quite a while, I found the perfect addition for this song. Syed Anosh Ali. I approached him with this song and asked him to sing the chorus part which is actually the poetry of Allama Iqbal. From that moment on, we did every possible thing to make Aashiyano Pe as “kick-ass” as we could. I’ve lost count to how many people we approached, how many obstacles we faced. Even our own director, after almost 80% of the shooting, ditched us to make a video for a much more famous singer that I’m not going to name. Yet, we didn’t give up and finally got THE MOST AMAZING producer one can ask for: Shamoon Ismail. This guy is full of talent. There are no words which can explain how much thankful I am to him. His music gave a new life to this song. In addition, the team of Brief Art Pictures, especially Muhammad Arsalan a.k.a Dexter, with their experience and hard work, made one hell of a video which now every person, who has seen, appreciated. I hope it would, but it doesn’t seem like the video is going to be on the TV because of the controversial lines that were used. This is something what everyone would have noticed but here’s something not many would have; The word “Descipline”(Old French) was instead of “discipline” in the line “Unity Faith Descipline Devout” meaning, massacre; destruction. This was the actual summary of the whole song. In the simplest words, Pakistan has both the sides, good and the ugly. You decide which one YOU want to live in.
