Machinepur will inspire your journey of self-discovery
We all come across animated short films from time to time which not only amuse us with their amazing animation, but also evoke an emotional response with their thought-provoking message. However, most of these films are generally created by animation giants like Pixar, Disney or Dreamworks.
This is exactly the reason why Machinepur is such a breath of fresh air. The short film is not only completely in Urdu, it is a rare non-commercial project in Pakistan that is solely shaped by artistic passion.
The amazing thing about Machinepur is that the scripting, design, storyboarding, animation, voice-over and production are all done by one man, Maaz Maudood.
Pushing the boundaries of storytelling in a span of 11 minutes, the film delivers a beautiful message that not only resonates with children, but adults as well.
The story of Machinepur
At its core, Machinepur is about finding your purpose in life when you are stuck in a robotic routine (which is why the metaphor is pretty clever).
The story explores the struggles of a robot named Circuit, who challenges the strictest rule in Robot Nagar: NEVER REMOVE THE LOCK PLACED ON YOUR CHEST. His act forces him to embark on a journey of self-discovery to find answers which no one has ever sought before. However, things aren’t as easy as they seem.
Take a look at this wonderful masterpiece.
After watching Machinepur, something definitely comes to mind:
Parh parh ilm te faazil hoya
Te kaday apnay aap nu parhya ee na
You read to become all knowledgeable
But you never read yourself
It’s hard to say whether the filmmaker had the lines of Bulleh Shah in mind or not, but have to admit that the captivating message was delivered brilliantly.
